Job Description

Sheridan Maine are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded law firm who are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their busy Finance team.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Legal Cashier looking to join a professional and supportive environment, with responsibility for a varied caseload of legal accounts and financial transactions.

As Legal Cashier, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal procedures.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Processing client and office account transactions.
  • Managing payments, receipts and transfers.
  • Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Processing CHAPS, BACS and other electronic payments.
  • Handling client account queries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assisting with month end procedures and financial reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and internal policies.
  • Liaising with fee earners, clients, banks and other third parties as required.
  • Supporting the wider Finance team with ad hoc duties.
 
We are looking for someone with previous experience within a legal cashiering or legal accounts environment.

Other attributes required include:
  • Good knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
  • Experience with client and office accounts.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • A professional and confidential approach to handling financial information.
