Sheridan Maine is advertising on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in London to recruit a Tax Service Line Lead. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take ownership of a core service line, driving technical excellence, client delivery, and team development.
 
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on client work and offers the opportunity to shape the direction and growth of the tax function within a collaborative and progressive practice. This position offers hybrid working, combining office presence with remote flexibility.
 
Key responsibilities of the Tax Service Line Lead include:
  • Leading and developing the tax service line, setting strategic direction and standards.
  • Taking responsibility for a portfolio of complex tax clients, providing high-quality advisory and compliance services.
  • Acting as a senior technical authority across the tax function, supporting complex and high-risk matters.
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing tax team members at varying levels of seniority.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax legislation, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for business development and supporting the growth of the tax service line.
  • Working collaboratively with Partners and other service lines to deliver joined-up client solutions.
  • Contributing to firm-wide initiatives, including process improvement, risk management, and people development.
 
The successful Tax Service Line Lead will have:
  • Extensive experience in a senior tax role within a UK accountancy practice.
  • CTA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge across relevant areas of tax.
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including advising senior clients.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to identify and develop new client opportunities.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a hybrid working environment.
