Sheridan Maine is advertising on behalf of a respected and growing accountancy practice to recruit a Senior Manager or Director with expertise in trust taxation. In this position, you will lead the Trust Tax team, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services to a varied portfolio of private client tax clients. You will advise on complex trust structures, inheritance tax planning, and succession strategies, providing tailored solutions for high-net-worth individuals, families, and trustees. This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of office-based and remote working.
 
Key responsibilities of the Senior Manager / Director – Trust Tax include:

• Ensuring compliance with legislative and ethical standards within the Trust team.
• Resolving client issues efficiently, meeting agreed timescales and budgets.
• Leading, developing, and mentoring a team of advisors.
• Liaising with trustees, beneficiaries, individuals, and intermediaries to provide top-tier service.
• Acting as principal on a portfolio of trust and high-net-worth clients, reviewing and signing off advice.
• Reviewing and advising on trust accounts.
• Playing an active role in marketing and business development for trust services.
• Supporting team growth and the expansion of the trust business.
• Upskilling colleagues in other departments to manage risk and identify opportunities.
• Meeting with clients to assess and advise on tax planning, overseeing delivery by team members.
• Working with Private Client tax partners to identify key opportunities and risks.
• Promoting firm-wide services, including financial planning.
• Allocating work effectively to ensure departmental targets are met.
• Assisting in the running of the trust corporation.

 
The successful Senior Manager / Director – Trust Tax will have:

• Previous experience in a similar role within a UK accountancy practice.
• ATT or CTA qualification (or equivalent) with up-to-date technical knowledge; STEP qualification desirable.
• Proven ability to lead a team and inspire them to become highly effective advisors.
• Highly motivated with excellent client-facing skills, able to engage with high-net-worth clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• A creative approach to problem-solving and a strong desire to succeed.
