Finance Manager

Sheridan Maine is working with a well-established Birmingham-based organisation to recruit a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager. This is a hands-on role providing full oversight of the finance function, including preparation and review of full set management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The role offers the opportunity to lead a small finance team and influence key business decisions.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Manager will include:

•  Prepare, review, and analyse full set management accounts on a monthly basis.
•  Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
•  Prepare budgets, forecasts, and management reporting to support business planning and strategic decisions.
•  Oversee the finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
•  Ensure all statutory reporting and compliance obligations are met.
•  Implement and maintain strong financial controls and processes across the business.
•  Support senior management with ad hoc financial analysis and business projects. 

 
Skills and experience required to succeed as a Finance Manager:

•  Proven experience preparing full set management accounts in a similar Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role.
•  Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
•  Experience managing a small finance team.
•  Commercial mindset with the ability to analyse financial information and provide actionable insights.
•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
•  Competent in finance systems and Microsoft Excel; adaptable to new technology and reporting tools.
