Sheridan Maine is recruiting on behalf of a well-established London accountancy practice for an Audit Senior. This is a client-facing role providing an excellent opportunity to take ownership of audits, develop client relationships, and mentor junior staff while building your career in a supportive and professional environment.

This role is ideal for an ambitious, self-driven audit professional who thrives in a fast-paced, varied, and client-focused environment. You will gain exposure to a broad portfolio of clients and contribute to the delivery of high-quality audit work from planning through to completion.

Key responsibilities of the Audit Senior include: Client-Facing Work & Planning:
  • Leading planning for audit assignments, including preparation of information requests and assignment terms letters.
  • Liaising with managers and partners to enhance audit planning.
  • Drafting initial financial statements and coordinating with the corporation tax team.
Fieldwork:
  • Acting as the primary on-site or remote contact for clients, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Driving the audit process on-site/remote, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
  • Identifying complex areas of audit work and escalating issues or deviations promptly to Manager/Partner.
  • Delivering audit areas ready for review and supporting junior staff with queries and learning.
  • Documenting adjusting and unadjusting journals and keeping clients updated on progress.
Completion:
  • Processing final agreed journals into accounts and delivering clean files for Manager/Partner review.
  • Completing final updates to accounts, review points, and assessment reports for junior and semi-senior staff.
  • Preparing Letters of Representation and Management Letters.
In-Office & General Responsibilities:
  • Multitasking and completing assignments within deadlines while maintaining high professional standards.
  • Participating in monthly audit training and promoting correct use of software and auditing practices.
  • Mentoring junior staff and participating in team development activities.
  • Attending client meetings and ad-hoc sessions with partners to enhance learning and professional development.
  • Driving personal development and contributing to process improvements and best practice initiatives.
The successful Audit Senior will have:
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified with relevant audit practice experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of auditing standards and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with clients at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with accounting and auditing software; familiarity with cloud-based platforms is advantageous.
