Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a well-established accountancy practice based in Central London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, working closely with business owners and senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services.

The successful candidate will join a professional and supportive team, with the opportunity to develop their expertise, build lasting client relationships and contribute to the continued success of the practice.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients, including limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Producing management accounts and financial reports, providing meaningful insights to clients.
• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and returns.
• Managing client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for accounting and financial queries.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting clients with bookkeeping, VAT and other accounting matters.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing guidance and support.
• Liaising with clients to identify opportunities for process improvements and additional advisory support.
• Working closely with senior colleagues to ensure client deadlines and service standards are consistently met.
  
  

The successful Senior Accountant will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent experience gained within an accountancy practice.
• Strong experience preparing statutory accounts and managing a portfolio of clients.
• Sound technical knowledge of UK accounting standards, including FRS 102.
• Experience preparing corporation tax computations and returns.
• Good working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• A proactive attitude and the confidence to work independently while supporting the wider team.
